About Me

Hello, My name is Renu Kotapati, a pre-service Science and Religion teacher studying a Masters of Teaching (Secondary)/Graduate certificate in Religious Education at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield. My teaching philosophy is to teach each student like they can and will excel in your subject. Never give up or write off students because they all deserve to be taught like the conscientious, caring and responsible persons of the future. I am especially passionate about female students and their achievements in the field of science.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t always a true blue Australian. Being born in the exotic and over-populated city of Chennai in India, my family and I are no strangers to hard work or difficult situations. My mother, father, sister and I moved to Sydney when I was 3. By starting my education at an Australian public school in kindergarten, I have had first experience on the government schooling system.

Following my primary education at various public schools, I completed by Higher school studies at East Hills Girls’ Technology High School. I received by High school Certificate in the subjects: English (Advanced), Mathematics (Advanced), Legal Studies, Ancient History, Extension History and Physics.

My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Technology, Sydney. My Bachelors in Biomedical Science was a very interesting and demanding three years of my life. I especially enjoyed my microbiology units. Those tiny creepy crawly critters were almost my true calling!

During my science degree I had the pleasure of tutoring a few students in maths and science. This was when I realised that this was what I really wanted to do in the future. I used to leave every class with a smile on my face, hence, my commencement of my current postgraduate study in Teaching.

Today, while I juggle several units in teaching and religion, my tutoring students and work placement at a high school, I have never been happier. Look out, world of education, here I come!
